Application:
The dish-type liquid limit meter is composed of a brass dish containing the sample, a hard high-quality rubber pedestal, an impact device cam wheel, a calculator, and a grooving knife to control the drop distance between the dish and the pedestal within 1 cm.
To determine the liquid limit of soil, to classify soil types, to calculate natural consistency and stagnant index, and to be used for design and construction.

The method of using the dish liquid limit meter refers to ASTM D4318 "Standard Test Method for Liquid Limit of Soil"
Scope of application
1) This method is a test method for the determination of soil liquid limit. The obtained results need to be tested at least 3 times, and a plastic flow curve (FlowCurve).
Methods as below:
1 One-point method, calculate the liquid limit from a single test;
2 Inspection or identification test.
2) Unless it is stipulated that the soil to be tested is allowed to use the one-point method, the drop-dish method should generally be used. When the measured results are inconsistent or the soil tested is specified according to the technical requirements, the inspection test method or the identification test method should be used.
Definition
The liquid limit of soil is the boundary water content between the liquid state and the plastic state, expressed as a weight percentage of the dried soil. The water content of the limit is artificially set as: starting from the bottom of the dish, divide the plaster into two halves, the gap between the two halves is 1/2 inch (12.7 mm), and the dish containing the plaster is 1 cm (0.3937 inch) The water content when the two halves of the soil paste flow together when the height is dropped 25 times/2 seconds.

Sample
According to the ASTM method "Dry Preparation of Soil Samples for Determination of Particle Fraction and Soil Parameters", take about 100 grams of soil samples that have passed through a No. 40 sieve (425 microns) and have been thoroughly mixed.
