Testing Methodology

This method determines soil liquid limit through multiple tests (minimum 3 repetitions) to establish a plastic flow curve (Flow Curve).

One-point method: Calculate liquid limit from a single test
Inspection or identification test for verification purposes

The drop-dish method is standard unless otherwise specified. Inspection testing is recommended for inconsistent results or specific technical requirements.

Equipment Definition

The liquid limit represents the boundary water content between liquid and plastic states, expressed as a weight percentage of dried soil. The test measures the water content where soil paste flows together after 25 drops from 1 cm height with a 12.7 mm groove separation.
