ASTM Micro Hardness Tester
HVS-1000ZCM The touch screen automatic turret digital display micro hardness tester is a new type of hardness tester that combines precision machinery with optical, electrical and computer software. It can be used to test Vickers or Knoop hardness and calculate the hardness value by entering the measured diagonal value into the all-in-one calculator. The tests carried out by this machine are carried out in accordance with the relevant standards of ASTM and ISO.
The HVS-1000ZCM touch screen automatic turret digital micro hardness tester is most suitable for testing metal structures, including tiny parts, thin plates, metal foils, high-quality wires, thin hardened layers and electroplated layers. It can also be used to test non-metallic materials such as glass, jewelry and ceramics that cannot be tested with Rockwell test methods and other relatively high test force tests. In particular, it follows the structure of metals and tests the internal hardness of materials such as induction hardening or carburizing.
The test consists of two parts. In the first part, the diamond indenter is driven by a force of known magnitude into the surface of the material being tested. In the second part, the user measures the diagonal length of the indentation and enters the measured reading into the host computer, which then calculates the corresponding Vickers or Knoop hardness value.
The difference between Vickers and Knoop tests is that they use different indenters, and Vickers needs to measure the length of two diagonal lines, while Knoop only needs to measure one. A Vickers indenter is a pyramid-shaped indenter with a square base, while a Knoop indenter is a pyramid-shaped indenter with a diamond-shaped base. Details about the shape and geometry of the indenter, as well as the test method, are given later in this chapter. Meanwhile, the Vickers test is described in ASTM E92 and E384 and EN-ISO-6507; the Knoop test is described in ASTM E384, EN ISO 9385 and ISO 4546.
