This device is suitable for predicting the relative durability of paints, coatings, plastics and other non-metallic materials through light and water exposure accelerated aging tests, and is particularly suitable for observing the destruction of physical properties of particularly durable materials, such as gloss reduction, fog shadow, strength reduction, chalking, cracking, blistering, brittleness and fading.
As with other accelerated laboratory tests, the test results of this device cannot be used as a substitute for natural exposure to determine the actual durability of a material, but the comparative experimental conditions provided by this device are relatively practical for quickly assessing the aging resistance of materials, screening or improving new and old formulations, and monitoring product quality.
Since UV light is the main light factor that causes the durability of outdoor products to decline, coupled with the relatively stable spectral energy distribution and low price of fluorescent tubes, the UV aging tester has become the most widely used weathering test machine in the world with the advantages of speed, convenience and economy. As a simple model, this device is especially suitable for laboratories with limited economic conditions.
The design of rotating sample frame adopted by this device can compensate for the uneven light radiation defects brought by many factors such as lamp aging and differences between batches, which saves the heavy workload of changing the sample positions regularly in order of general instruments.
As moisture is an important destructive factor to accelerate aging, this device uses water spray to simulate the influence of moisture. By setting the spraying time, it can be closer to certain end-use environmental conditions, such as mechanical erosion caused by drastic changes in temperature or rain.
This model also allows the rate of photochemical reaction to be adjusted within the appropriate range by a temperature control mechanism.
In order to meet the requirements of the weathering tester's robust and durable use, the structural parts of this device are generally made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel. The design strives for simple structure, ease of use and maintenance.
